Hey folks, so I'm just trying out something entirely new & different here at TSMF. Some of you might already be familiar with this game. It's actually not anything "new" per say as it's been around for a while ... I just never bothered setting one up and running it on here. In a nutshell this is simply virtual trading in the form of a competition with other traders. Here is the brief description of this challenge: All participants start off with $10,000 with commissions rates set at $5.00 per trade. This is about as real as I could find in the form of a challenge. You basically get a feel for some real world trading here. All that you folks will need to do here is register a user handle on http://www.MarketWatch.com/ It's really quick and easy. Should take you folks no more than a minute or so. Once you have done that you can join up the challenge right here: http://www.marketwatch.com/game/the-stock-market-forums-stock-challenge-advanced You can also find this link on the navigation bar at the top of the site: You simply just need to click on the orange "JOIN NOW!" button on that page and then you're in! It would be great to get a few more participants joining up! I've set this so anyone can still join even after the start date (which was this past Monday). That's just thanks to AMZN coming back from its lul, and DATA running with the bulls! Can we talk strategy? That's one thing we dont get in the Daily/Weekly comps, that this portfolio challenge does. Travis, for example, is killing it because BABA was just crazy good at the time. If it turns though, he's toast. Meanwhile, I'm trying to diversify a bit, spreading the majority of my portfolio across different sectors of Tech & Retail, and even across the pond. @Steven, what's your strategy here?
Literally everything I trade requires a catalyst, momentum, range and volume with room to run. I also prefer stocks with less than 120m float and priced between $15-$100. I use TC2000 for charting and scanning and they are down for server maintenance today so I can't look for a good current candidate. If you look at my pick PRTK last week from the weekly challenge, it's a good example. So I just plan on throwing up some of those names, If they start working let em run and if they don't cull them off. Also if I can scalp a percent or two with a good trending day trade I try that too lol. (I really am just a degenerate trader )
Tom pulls into 2nd! nice job man, LOL I think I might just get a margin call on my acct.. I wanted some shorts for the open Monday, but they are still pulling back.
LOL I am so NOT a swing trader. The better I get at day trading the worse I get at swing. Tom is going to win this, I am sure!
